BIOGRAPHY

Writer / Actor

Rosaleen Cox is an Irish/Australian actor and writer from rural Victoria. Specialising in dark comedy, her portfolio includes award winning play MERCURIAL (Riverside Studios, London), “MAD WOMAN” (Victoria Trades Hall, Melbourne) and “STIFF DRINK”, which she performed to critical acclaim in sold out theatres across London and Los Angeles (leading to arguably 2023’s most inarticulate BBC interview, which she gave while lost in West Cork).

Rosaleen’s work has been commissioned by Soho Theatre, Meta and The Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA). She won the Director's Choice award at the St Kilda Film Festival, was selected for six AACTA LMAO awards - winning "Best Original Content" and received the "One to Watch" accolade from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (mainly for taking home awards that don't belong to her).

As a writer she was a finalist for the prestigious Australian in Film (AiF) Untapped program, shortlisted for The Painkiller Prize and long listed for the Women in Theatre Lab in 2024. As an actor Rosaleen played the role of Sarah K in Amazon Prime/NBC Universal’s series CLASS OF ’07 and the role of Sophie in Netflix/BBC One’s season 2 of THE TOURIST. For theatre, her credits include MERCURIAL (Riverside Studios - Winner: Best Show), SLICE OF LEMON, PASS IT ON (Theatre503), DICKLESS (Riverside Studios - Winner: Best Performance), STIFF DRINK (Camden People’s Theatre) and THE PYJAMA GIRL (Hothouse Theatre Company).
